It's always a pleasure to find a quality local restaurant when traveling. Diners at the Cottage Inn won't be disappointed by the menu or service. It's a little dated but absolutely charming. The dining room was full in the evening and for breakfast the following morning.

Neat little country resturant, it's affordable and the food is comfort food. Kids friendly and has great breakfast and brunch.

Cute place, stopped here for dinner with coworkers. The staff was very nice & personable - not what we've encountered in other restaurants in this area. While the Pot Pie wasn't what we expected, it seems the locals love it (it's Pennsylvania Dutch style, different from what we eat in the south). The pies are homemade & taste like it, so very good! We stopped in the next morning for their breakfast, much better than the breakfast served at the hotel. Great pancakes, eggs, and homemade hash browns.

We love this little place for a rest stop when we're traveling across rt 80. Homecooking, no question about that. Recommend the roast pork special with stuffing and mashed potatoes. It was cheap and great for the price! Also had the roast turkey open faced sandwich with mashed and gravy. The desserts and pies look great but I've never had room to try any of the desserts. I loved the "decor". Lots of tsotske all over the place! And it's all for sale, should you care to own any of it........

Good place for a stop on a trip. Food varies from bland but good to outright delicious. In all cases you get a lot for your money. And it's a nice selection compared to your usual chain fare.

Stopped in on my way across I-80 towards New Jersey and got a cup of coffee to-go. Friendly service and they made a fresh pot of coffee for me and only $1.00 for a large!

I do not like fast food. I am not a fan of franchise restaurants. I like my food prepared In a somewhat healthy manner. This makes it a challenge to find a decent place to eat when traveling. Yelp and you the reviewers have been fantastic at helping me out - including helping me find this place. This restaurant was a great find. It exists on a long stretch of route 80 where it is quite challenging to find a nice place to eat. The food is traditional home style cooking and baking. It is prepared and served with fresh salad makings and without tons of gravies and cheeses. I have eaten here twice with my wife. I had the cliffs fish and my wife had the mushroom burger. We coincidentally had the same thing both times. I will be back. I am thankful that they exist along this stretch of 80.

Good food at good prices. Love their soups. Their pies are to die for. The building is an older building, but it is kept clean. The service is great. They also have a restaurant in Jersey shore that follows the same menu. WE go there often.

Great food. Great ambiance. Great experience. All of the food was tope, but my favorite dish was the country fried steak which was definitely amber. But the grayest feature? They're right off the fricken highway! Don't jump the carp - Eat here and you won't regret it.

If you're passing through on I-80, you're not missing a local gem if you drive on by. Usually a bad dinner experience is disappointing, but this was offensive. Came in with a family of 7 after a long day of driving. We found a table, but got a dirty look from the staff as we made our way to the table. No idea what rule we were breaking or taboo we were violating to deserve the waitresses' nasty stare before we even said hi. We sat at the table several minutes before the the table was bussed from the previous diner. The waitress, obviously irked, tossed down some new silverware without making eye contact or speaking a word. My wife tried to extend an olive branch with a polite "thank you so much," but the waitress turned her back and walked away. Fifteen minutes after sitting down and trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, we still hadn't gotten menus or a word from our waitress. She made a point of visiting every table around us and at one point, took a table's menus, walked past us, and put them away. We stood up and left at this point. On the way out, my father who was traveling with us and owns his own business, got the attention of a staff member at the register and shared why we were leaving. The response: "ok, see ya.". As a Midwesterner, I've never seen someone happy that I'm leaving their restaurant upset... Negative reviews probably won't affect this place's business much, as it seems to be busy with locals.

My daughter goes to Penn State so I travel through this area often. A friend told me to stop there and pick up one of their pies. He was right on the money! Homemade crust with fresh ingredients and great service. I could see by the crowd in there that it's a popular local destination. If you're in the area and hungry it's worth the stop

We were in desperate need of breakfast for dinner after a long drive from NYC. The Cottage did not let us down. Clientele was mostly older but the service was great and friendy with our annoying kids. Breakfast food was good. I had a steak dinner that was only decent. Should have gone for steak and eggs.

This is one odd place. Religious "cheer up" plaques on the walls, all of which you can purchase in the antiques/gift shop cafe that's part of the restaurant. The menu is definitely country, with nothing special. I went for the fried chicken and sweet potatoes. My girlfriend went for chicken parmigiana. The fried chicken was delicious, crunchy and definitely homemade. The chicken was fine, but the pasta it came with were terribly overcooked and the tomato sauce was as blend as if they took it directly from a prego jar. It was an interesting stop while wondering around Centre County, nothing more nothing less. Not worth going out of your way or anything.

Stopped here on a trip out to Cleveland, makes a good half way point from NYC. Had breakfast here and our waitress Karen was a very sweet lady. Pancakes were huge and tasty, eggs are eggs, ham was good, coffee hot. Good value for the money. Would go back on a future trip across PA.

We got a lot of weird looks when we walked in, and the staff were friendly but did not seem to know what to do with us. It felt odd, since it is a restaurant right off the interstate. However, the food made up for it, and everyone warmed to us. The philly steak and cheese was very good, and they had healthier options that come with cottage cheese. They also serve breakfast all day, which is always a good option on long road trips. There seemed to be a lot of locals, there were state police there, and the prices were not hiked up. It definitely is not a tourist trap.

Two words: meatball volcano. It's a breadbowl filled with sauce & meatballs, covered with provolone, and surrounded by penne pasta. It was worth the stop & the $8 pricetag. Overall, this is your typical greasy-spoon diner. Good but not great, definitely better than the chains.

This is our favorite place to stop when driving across the state. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. It certainly beats all other options near the interstate for miles around.

Why stop at a chain restaurant, when you can get better food for the same price at the Cottage Restaurant? My family and I stopped here for lunch during out travels on I-80 through Pennsylvania. I ordered the chef salad, my wife ordered the sausage special, both kids got pancakes with bacon. The restaurant was comfortable, decorated with home crafts (lots of stars!) and folksy sayings about living life well. The food was very good, in particular my salad ingredients were all fresh. Price was reasonable about $27 for a family of 4. Only thing that could be improved is if they served Diet Coke instead of Diet Pepsi! Note: The large salad is big enough to feed at least two people! If you are ordering the salad for one, opt for the small.

We stopped here because they had a pretty high rating on yelp and we were passing through. We weren't very happy with our experience. 1. When we walked in, half of the tables were empty but none of them had been bussed. They took a while to bus the tables before we could sit down. 2. The burger tasted like it was frozen and then microwaved. 3. The meatloaf was one of the strangest things we had ever eaten. It was a mushy meat soup. The coleslaw was in a pool of thinned mayonnaise. 4. One of the male guests leered at me for over an hour, even after I scowled at him several times. It made me feel unsafe.

We stopped here randomly on our way back to CT. Don't let the exterior (or interior for that matter) deter you. The waitress was very friendly, the food came out really fast. Nothing to write home about, just good old fashioned comfort food. The portions were huge and the choices were plentiful. I had the Corona battered cod. Not bad for being in PA! Husband had the country style pork. Again, a huge portion and tasted like mom made it. Veggies aren't fresh but the proteins in every meal made up for it. My 2 1/2 year old and 5 month old were greeted with coloring books and crayons, which was a really nice gesture. The waitress kept checking back if the kids put up any fuss to see if she could bring anything more to help us out. Got our home made pies to go. Delicious. If nothing else, stop in for dessert.

Cute little place, deserves 5 stars. Cheap prices & good food, I stopped by on the road with my family and we were all very pleased with our meals.

Hubby had hot italian sausage with peppers and the most amazing french fries i have had in a really long time. I think they're double-fried (which is the way the experts tell you to do it) I had the large chef's salad. This was seriously twice the size of my head! It was HUGE! 2, possibly 3 people could have happily shared this. Lots of ham, turkey and cheese. Honestly, if they skimped any where, there wasn't enough lettuce. 10% off with hotel key and there's truck parking across the street. Had shoofly pie for dessert which was very good.

Better than fast food decent home cooked & canned/ frozen food options. Hubby got chicken parmigiano said it was okay, probably frozen pre-made, green beans probably canned, but coleslaw was very good. I got veggie burger w/fries. Fries were those awful frozen pre-cooked battered things that need to be discontinued from society, so I would not recommend them. Burger was also a packaged food but not bad. If you don't want fast food and don't feel like driving out of your way this will work in a pinch.
